287(g) Community Education Summit

Across the country, we’ve seen the Trump administration drastically expand the federal 287(g) program to transform state and local law enforcement agencies into a national deportation policing force.
In Minnesota, sheriffs’ departments in 6 counties (Kandiyohi, Crow Wing, Cass, Mille Lacs, Itasca, and Sherburne) have formalized, illegal 287(g) agreements with ICE to carry out “show me your papers” immigration enforcement, detention, and processing. We can organize our communities to end these agreements — that’s why we’re bringing activists, organizers, and concerned Minnesotans together in Brainerd for a statewide roundtable on 287(g).
Join the ACLU of Minnesota, Brainerd Lakes Area Indivisible, and other organizations for a 287(g) Community Education Summit, happening Tuesday, June 9th at 6:30 PM CT in Brainerd.
During this roundtable, you’ll:
- Learn more about the scope and objectives of ICE’s 287(g) program and how it has been implemented in Minnesota
- Connect with other passionate Minnesotans who are working to end 287(g) agreements at the state, local, and federal levels
- Develop plans and access resources to organize in your communities and mobilize your neighbors against these agreements
This summit is designed for all Minnesotans, whether your county has an existing 287(g) agreement or not. You’ll leave with the knowledge, resources, and relationships to challenge 287(g) agreements, build local power, and break ICE’s hold over our counties.
There is strength in organizing. Join us for our 287(g) Community Education Summit on June 9th.
